Last year, the Denver Broncos decided to shake things up, with the post-Peyton Manning era not going as planned and a star quarterback desperately needed in the Mile High City.

As a result of the need for some fresh blood at quarterback, the Broncos made a blockbuster trade with the Seattle Seahawks to acquire superstar Russell Wilson, which was thought to be a game-changing move for the struggling franchise.

Unfortunately, Wilson didn’t impress in his first season with the Broncos, as he looked like a completely different player that had lost a step or two.

The Broncos limped to the finish line last season with a record of 5-12 and a bleak future ahead with Wilson under center.

With head coach Sean Payton now in the fold in Denver, many have started to change their tune and believe Wilson will get back to form, but Nick Wright doesn’t see that happening, as he said on “First Things First.”

The Payton aspect of Wilson’s potential bounce-back season can’t go overlooked, as a great coach can bring the best out of a player, especially one that had been successful in Seattle for a very long time.

However, as Wright points out, Wilson bouncing back after clearly showing signs of a decline at this point in his career is a tall order, as no coach is a miracle worker and stops Father Time from irreparable damage.

Although the Broncos will more than likely be better next season, it’s hard to imagine Wilson returning to his superstar form, as his best days in the league are probably over.
