Mike McCarthy Shares First Impressions Of All-Pro CB At Camp
The fanbase of the Dallas Cowboys is always pumped up with confidence, but this year, they’re feeling especially excited.
The team won 12 games in both of the last two seasons with one of the NFL’s more talented rosters, but they haven’t reached the NFC Championship Game since the 1995 campaign, which was also the last time they won the Super Bowl.
This season, the Cowboys have added wide receiver Brandin Cooks, as well as star cornerback Stephon Gilmore.
Head coach Mike McCarthy seems especially pleased with how Gilmore has done in training camp so far, according to reporter Michael Gehlken.

Overall, the Cowboys defense was strong last season, as they ranked fifth in points allowed, but there is room for improvement.
Gilmore will give them a fearsome secondary that includes Trevon Diggs, who has made the Pro Bowl in two of his three pro seasons and was also voted onto the All-Pro First Team in 2021.
Gilmore is a five-time Pro Bowl selection, and he was named the Defensive Player of the Year in 2019, a year after he won a Super Bowl championship ring with the New England Patriots.
Offensively, Dallas certainly has talent between Cooks, star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, and emerging running back Tony Pollard.
But the onus is on quarterback Dak Prescott to take them to the promised land.
He has a history of not rising to the occasion in big games, and last season he led the NFL with 15 interceptions.
For the Cowboys to go all the way, he will have to raise his game and also raise the production of his teammates.
