Patrick Mahomes seems to be becoming an all-time great before everyone’s eyes.

This past season, he won his second regular-season MVP, Super Bowl championship, and Super Bowl MVP while leading the NFL in passing yards, passing touchdowns, and QBR.

At age 27, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback is seemingly only getting warmed up, and there’s no telling what heights he may get to in the years to come.

At this year’s ESPYS, he took home the award for Best Athlete in Men’s Sports, and it’s hard to argue with that honor.

It’s easy to forget that Mahomes barely played as a rookie in 2017 and that a number of teams passed him up in the draft before the Chiefs took him at No. 10.

When they traded incumbent starter Alex Smith the following offseason and named Mahomes their starter, some wondered what they were doing.

But Mahomes threw for 5,097 yards and threw a league-high 50 touchdown passes in 2018, which earned him his first regular-season MVP award.

A season later, he led Kansas City to a world championship by overcoming a late deficit in the Super Bowl against the San Francisco 49ers, one of the teams that chose not to draft him in 2017.

This past season, he and his team won it all despite the departure of star wide receiver Tyreek Hill the previous spring.

In 2023, the Chiefs will have to overcome the loss of JuJu Smith-Schuster, who was their most productive wideout in 2022, but if the NFL has learned anything in the last few years, it’s to not bet against Mahomes.
