Eskisehir City Theaters [1]
Eskişehir could not have achieved this great success without you, the devoted audience of the theatre. We promised, we kept our word. We brought theater, concert and opera institutions and halls to Eskişehir, examples of which can only be seen in the cities of civilized countries with a high level of culture. You also took care of them with the great interest you have shown in these projects. Thank you all so much.
A city like Eskişehir can grow without a theater, without a symphony orchestra, but it cannot develop in terms of culture, art, thought and horizon. The reason for this is the potential power that theater, opera, symphony concerts, fine arts galleries have within their own structure. Theatre, stage and musical arts, plastic and visual arts are branches of art in which a society can see its own colours, its weaknesses and its superior aspects.
The passion of owning the performing and musical arts institutions in Eskişehir dates back to the 1960s. That’s why the struggle in Eskişehir in the 1960s was the struggle of those who knew the power of these branches of art.
Look at Turkey.. How many metropolitan cities there are, right? So from this perspective, how many of these are really big cities?
Take a look at Eskişehir.. Three theaters belonging to the Metropolitan Municipality have 5 stages and halls in various districts, one for the opera and symphony orchestra, as well as 5 art galleries belonging to our municipality alone. With its theater and Symphony Orchestra, it has achieved a cultural and artistic dynamic that will impress other cities.
Dear Eskişehir residents, you have a magnificent Art and Culture Palace today. In this art complex, you will have the opportunity to watch not only the exhibitions of works from various branches of theater and fine arts, but also various high-level art events such as sustainable opera, ballet and concerts in cooperation with the State Opera and Ballet.
You will see, Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality City Theaters will be the apple of the eye of the Turkish Theatre, and the Symphony Orchestra of Turkey. In the near future, the title of the first city with its own staff municipal opera will also belong to our city. This is the target … This is what is worthy of my fellow citizens from Eskişehir…
All of our artist friends are working hard to produce high quality productions in line with this goal. I congratulate them. Of course, you also give them the value they deserve… I wish you all a pleasant theater season.
