One of the most intriguing matchups heading into the first round of the NBA playoffs this month was Julius Randle and the New York Knicks going up against the Donovan Mitchell-led Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Cavaliers were favored to come out on top in this series, with the consensus being that Cleveland was too deep and too talented for the banged Knicks to deal with in a seven-game series.

With four games in the books, the narrative has completely changed, as the Knicks have taken control of their series after getting the best of the Cavaliers in Game 4.

Here are some fan reactions to the Knicks taking a commanding 3-1 series lead over the Cavaliers on Sunday:

It’s been quite some time since Knicks fans have been able to celebrate anything of note during the NBA playoffs, but Jalen Brunson and Randle have given the avid fanbase in New York a lot to root for moving forward.

The Knicks have been, without a doubt, the best all-around team in this first-round playoff series with the Cavaliers and now are expected to pull off the upset and advance to the second round to face the Milwaukee Bucks or the Miami Heat.

As if being on the verge of advancing to the next round wasn’t good enough news for this Knicks squad, New York might not have to face the juggernaut of Giannis Antetokounmpo and company, with Milwaukee down 2-1 to Miami.

A second-round playoff matchup between the Heat and Knicks would be as gritty as they come and would be a throwback to the battles these two franchises had in the 90s.
