She said she learned someone in her daughter’s class recently tested positive for COVID-19.”So, of course, you know being that we have a large family, a lot of grandkids, we have to make sure we’re safe too,” Falcon said. She said her daughter took a rapid at-home test that came out negative. When the district’s COVID-19 data was most recently updated last Friday, it showed 652 students and staffers had contracted the virus and were present at school or work during the infectious period so far this month. That is compared to 237 the month before.Cases are on the rise, but they are still nowhere near the spike in January that amounted to 4,032. Still, SCUSD said it is a good idea to take a COVID-19 test before big celebrations, like graduations, even if someone is vaccinated against the virus.
