Ohio teen shoots dad during argument over bedtime, report says
FOREST PARK, Ohio — A 45-year-old man was shot in the stomach Wednesday, reportedly by his 15-year-old son during an argument over when to go to bed.
The teen left the house after the shooting and stole a car, driving to his mother’s residence in Lexington, Kentucky, police tell WXIX Channel 19. The teen was arrested at the home without incident at about 5 p.m. Wednesday.
WCPO Channel 9 reports the shooting occurred just after midnight Wednesday. Several other children, including a 5-year-old, were in the home at the time, police tell WCPO. No other injuries were reported.
The 45-year-old victim was taken to a hospital and his wound is not considered life-threatening, WLWT Channel 5 reports. Police tell WXIX the gun used in the shooting does not belong to the suspect’s father or stepmother and they’re unsure where he obtained the weapon.
The teen has been charged with one count of felonious assault and one count of auto theft, WLWT reports.
