Luxury senior apartments approved in Dublin’s Bridge Park
Construction of a 6-story apartment building consisting of 87 units may begin after the project received unanimous approval from the Dublin Planning and Zoning Commission.
The luxury senior-living community is set to open in late 2023 and is the first senior-living community in Bridge Park, according to a news release announcing the project.
Crawford Hoying, G2 Planning Design and M+A Architects are the collaborative applicant for the apartment building to be known as The Bailey, according to the application.
The Bailey is a partnership between Crawford Hoying and Friendship Village of Dublin.
“We’re excited to mark another milestone in our 40-year history of providing exceptional senior services,” Rita Doherty, executive director of Friendship Village of Dublin, said in a news release.
The Bailey will be a five-floor building with underground parking and will be constructed on 1.7 acres north of Banker Drive, south of Bridge Park Avenue and between Dale Drive and Mooney Street.
The 1.7 acres is within a 2.6-acre block that includes Springhill Suites, a 145-room hotel building.
The city’s planning and zoning commission on March 17 unanimously approved a preliminary development and final development plan for the proposed apartment building, said Andrew Kohn, a public-information officer for Dublin.
A parking plan for the development also was approved in a separate action. The commission approved both plans with a 5-0 vote, Kohn said.
The 87 apartments include 67 two-bedroom units and 20 three-bedroom units, according to the planning and zoning report.
The project also provides 0.4 acre of public open space.
Following approval of the combined preliminary and final development plan, the applicant may file for building permits, said Nichole Martin, a senior planner for Dublin and the project’s case manager.
The Bailey will allow Bridge Park to emerge into a new market in a new way, said Matt Starr, executive vice president of commercial real estate and leasing at Crawford Hoying.
“We’re excited to be able to offer this option” and about the impact it will have, Starr said in a news release.
Dublin City Manager Dana McDaniel said the collaboration between Crawford Hoying and Friendship Village of Dublin “aligns with the city’s ‘forever Dublin’ objective, which encourages creative living options for those who want to age in Dublin.”
