Inside W Brisbane hotel room that’s been dubbed Australia’s sexiest suite

Hidden on the top floor of one of Queensland’s most luxurious hotels, a suite awaits that has a cheeky little black box perfect for couples busting out of lockdown.

Is it getting hot in here, or is it just me?

That was my first thought after I checked in to what’s been dubbed as Australia’s ‘sexiest’ hotel suite.

It had been over two years since I’d stepped foot on a plane and entered the Sunshine state, and even longer for my husband who joined me for the 24 hours of …*insert imagination here*.

One arrival cocktail and a cheeky ‘hello’ from the front desk staff, we were quickly whisked from the ground foyer of the uber-luxe W Brisbane hotel to the sky – otherwise known as the penthouse suite on the 33rd floor.

Sitting at the top of the tower, the entry of suite 3306 sparkled at the end of the dimly lit hallway.

As the doors swung open, the city of Brisbane sprawled out in front of us which was kind of fitting given the theme of the stay.

But in amongst the quirky decor, glitzy cocktail bar and bright colour palette of our suite sat a lone black box, flanked by a bottle of champagne, some chocolates and a single note.

“Love how you buzz” is all it read – which made a lot more sense after opening the box that sat underneath.

Filled with Lovehoney’s best and finest sex toys for couples, the Mini ‘Play’ Bar inside the suite contained everything you needed for a romantic weekend away – from handcuffs and vibrators, to lingerie and lube.

Valued at over $800 alone, the best part is it’ll slip straight into your suitcase for the trip home (enjoy scanning that bag through airport security).

Having been confined within our own four walls for what feels like an eternity, the partnership between W Brisbane and Lovehoney isn’t just about the toys – it’s about the outfits too.

During the overnight stay, each couple will be fitted for size and receive in-room lingerie from the brands’ new Valentine’s range.

If you’re a little … overwhelmed … by the contents of the little black box, guests will also have access to a ‘Sexologist Concierge’ service, where couples can book a free phone consultation through award-winning sexologist, Chantelle Otten’s clinic.

While in bed, the suite also offers exclusive access to a Love How You Buzz streaming service offering educational sexual wellness videos available on-demand from sexperts including Chantelle Otten, Cam Fraser and Tamica Wilder along with playlists curated by coaches to help set the mood.

To refuel, the overnight stay also includes an in-room breakfast for two, because nothing says Valentine’s Day more than breakfast in bed together.

And for those moments of down time, the box also contains an incredible rose petal soak for use in the suite’s tub – or, like all the other toys and trinkets – you can take it home for later.

The “Love How You Buzz” package will run from the February 14 until March 31 with rooms starting from $1569 per couple.

TO EAT

Refuelling is key, right, so outside breakfast in bed – Brisbane is filled with some amazing new restaurants so you can dress up and dine out.

If you’re wanting to escape the hotel for dinner, slip around the corner to Rothwells on Edward Street. Just a five-minute walk from the lobby, this bar and grill fuses intimacy and vintage charm with a carefully curated menu and wicked cocktail list.

The interior takes inspiration from around the globe, transporting diners into a world of glamour which is fitting given it’s in the ground floor of the heritage-listed Rothwells building.

If you’re a steak buff, you can’t go past the Angus rump – cooked medium – with a side of the house French fries.

For those looking for something a little lighter but without skimping on flavour, opt for the reef trout and a side of baby carrots.

Along with a healthy grill menu, there’s also a few tempting pasta options to choose from – including the Bucatini with spanner crab, chilli and garlic or the Macaroni with mushroom and aged cheddar.

But if there’s one dish to leave room for – it’s the fresh baked madeleines with whisky caramel dipping sauce. Delicate and delicious – it’s the perfect share plate to end.

Nothing says Sunday like a boozy brunch, and with Three Blue Ducks setting up shop on the third floor of W Brisbane – you literally can roll out of bed and into a food-coma (with a view).

The $90 bottomless brunch menu will keep you full for the day with seven dishes and for an additional $39, you can have two-hours of cocktails as well (well worth it – especially for their take on a Mimosa).

Looking over the Brisbane river and a local acoustic music playing throughout the morning, the standout dishes include the Moreton Bay bugs in XO butter and lime as well as the wood roasted potato gnocchi, green pea, broccolini and salsa verde.
