Brust Places Second in 100 Fly as Ohio Swimming and Diving Continues MAC Championships
YPSILANTI, Mich. – The Ohio swimming and diving team returned to action on Friday (April 16) for the second day of the 2021 Mid-American Conference Championships at Jones Natatorium on the campus of Eastern Michigan.
After two days of competition, the Bobcats sit in fourth place with 262 points.
Freshman Gabrielle Brust (Granville, Ohio) finished in second place in the 100-yard butterfly, finishing the race in 54.18.
In the 400-yard IM, senior Samantha Glass (Villa Hills, Ky.) finished in eighth place with a time of 4:23.58. Meanwhile, senior Katherine Garrity (Eagan, Minn.) finished the ‘B’ final in first place, ninth overall, with a time of 4:22.77.
In the 200 free, sophomore Emma Fortman (Madeira, Ohio) placed fourth, with an overall time of 1:48.62, while sophomore McKenzie Grau (Mason, Ohio) placed seventh with a time of 1:48.94.
In relay action, the squad of Fortman, Garrity, Grau and sophomore Grace Riddle (Canal Winchester, Ohio) finished fifth with a time of 7:25.82. Meanwhile, the 200-yard medley relay team of Brust, redshirt sophomore Kelsey Morgan (Pickerington, Ohio), redshirt sophomore Kendra Sheehan (Columbus, Ohio) and freshman Caroline Dunigan (Lansdale, Pa.) finished seventh with a time of 1:42.30.
The Bobcats wrap up competition at the 2021 MAC Championship tomorrow (April 17). Preliminary races are set to start at 10:30 a.m. with finals set for 6 p.m.
