Due to a record heat wave straining California’s power grid and sending demand for air conditioning soaring, the operator of California’s electrical grid on Tuesday afternoon declared a Stage 2 emergency, warning that power outages are “likely” Tuesday afternoon and evening unless California residents and businesses reduce electricity consumption.

So how can you tell if your power will go out?
