Gamecocks schedule is set for SEC-only season


The SEC’s 2020 season schedule is set as South Carolina football’s order of 10 conference opponents has been announced. The Gamecocks will begin the season on Sept. 26 at home against Tennessee and they will go on the road for the first time in week two, a meeting with Florida.

Sept. 26 – Tennessee
Oct. 3 – at Florida
Oct. 10 – at Vanderbilt
Oct. 17 – Auburn
Oct. 24 – at LSU
Oct. 31 – BYE WEEK
Nov. 7 – Texas A&M
Nov. 14 – at Ole Miss
Nov. 21 – Missouri
Nov. 28 – Georgia
Dec. 5 – at Kentucky

The SEC announced the schedules of all 14 schools live on the SEC Network on Monday night. The first contest for each team was announced earlier in the day, pinning the Gamecocks and Volunteers together in September for the first time since Carolina joined the SEC in 1992.

With the league going to conference-only matchups, the Gamecocks lost four previously scheduled games against Coastal Carolina, East Carolina, Wofford, and Clemson. They inherited SEC West opponents Auburn and Ole Miss.

The Gamecocks reported on Monday for the start of preseason camp. They will hold their first of 25 practices on Tuesday morning. The program is entering its fifth season under head coach Will Muschamp, who has a 26-25 overall record as the coach of the Gamecocks. Carolina went 4-8 last season, failing to reach a bowl game for the first time since going 3-9 in 2015.
