After signing quarterback Kirk Cousins to address their ailing offense, the Atlanta Falcons could turn their focus to improving their defense.

Will that improvement start with Toledo cornerback Quinyon Mitchell?

Bleacher Report’s Jordan Schultz posted on Twitter that the Falcons will have Mitchell in for a top 30 visit this week.

Mitchell is currently ranked as the 13th-best prospect in the 2024 NFL Draft.

The Falcons have the No. 8 selection in the 2024 NFL Draft, giving the team a chance to select a top defensive player after what analysts believe will be a steady run on offensive players to start the draft.

Mitchell has spent the past four seasons in the Rockets’ defensive backfield, finishing his collegiate career with 46 pass deflections to set a new record at Toledo.

Currently, Atlanta has only six corners on their roster, an unusually low number for a NFL team to carry among their 53-man roster.

The Falcons were among the top-10 teams against the pass last season, allowing just over 202 yards per outing to opponents.

Atlanta has bolstered its run defense during free agency, adding multiple defensive linemen to their roster as well as linebacker Nate Landman.

Mitchell’s athleticism and speed were on full display at the NFL Combine in February.

During the annual event, Mitchell ran the 40-yard dash in 4.33 seconds.

Overall, Mitchell posted the highest total score of any cornerback at the event.
