After being the first team to win back-to-back Super Bowl titles since Tom Brady’s New England Patriots, the Kansas City Chiefs will have a chance to do something that no other franchise has been able to do by winning three straight titles.

With history on the line, the Chiefs will do everything within their power to put the best possible roster on the field to start the 2024 campaign, and they’ve already made some big moves in order to accomplish their goal.

The biggest move the defending Super Bowl champions have made so far this offseason is re-signing star defensive tackle Chris Jones, which makes the team that much more formidable on the defensive side of the football field.

Along with the return of Jones, the Chiefs were able to make a much-needed addition to the receiving corps with the addition of wide receiver Marquise Brown, who will give Patrick Mahomes another reliable target downfield.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the team made another move on offense on Tuesday by agreeing to a one-year deal with running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire.

Edwards-Helaire is coming off his worst season with the Chiefs, making this move to retain him for one more season a bit of a head-scratching decision, as he didn’t do much to make the team better in 2023.

In 15 games last year, Edwards-Helaire rushed for 223 yards and a touchdown on 70 carries and also caught 17 passes for 188 receiving yards and a touchdown.

The 24-year-old back will presumably continue to be the backup to Isiah Pacheco next season.
