Supreme Court Rejects Peter Navarro’s Bid to Stay Out of Prison While He Appeals

Chief Justice John Roberts denied the request, Politico reported.
Navarro was convicted of contempt of Congress in September 2023 after he refused to comply with a subpoena from the House Jan. 6 Committee. He received a four-month prison sentence earlier this year. He sought the High Court’s intervention on Friday after the appeals court declined to let him stay out of jail.
He is scheduled to report to a federal prison in Miami, Fla., at 2 p.m. on Tuesday.
Former White House advisor Steve Bannon was also convicted of contempt of Congress for ignoring a subpoena from the same panel and received a prison sentence of the same length. U.S. District Judge Carl Nichols, however, suspended the sentence while he appeals his conviction.
