The Atlanta Falcons officially landed a new quarterback, which is a sigh of relief for the fanbase.

Despite investing heavily in skill-position players over the last several years, the Falcons have seemingly been a solid quarterback away from being a perennial playoff team.

Kirk Cousins will now have an opportunity with a new team, starting fresh, which will hopefully yield the results that all parties are seeking.

James Palmer recently revealed that, before taking the job with the Falcons, Cousins spoke with Drew Brees to help make his decision.

As Palmer indicates, Brees has an in-depth knowledge of the Falcons general manager Terry Fontenot, and Cousins wanted to know more about him before making a big commitment.

It appears that Brees had nothing but good things to say about Fontenot, which made Cousins’ decision much easier.

It will be interesting to see how Cousins performs in Atlanta, especially since he is coming off an Achilles injury.

Throughout his career, Cousins has been a solid quarterback and, at times, has been one of the best in the league from a statistical perspective.

However, he has been criticized for his ability to win in the biggest games of his career, including primetime and playoff games.

Cousins started to rewrite that narrative in Minnesota, but he still has plenty of work to do.

With any luck, his new coaching staff will help him acclimate quickly to the new team, and the young skill-position players that the team has invested in will gain trust and rapport with him quickly.
