Last year, all the talk heading toward the 2023 NFL Draft was about the four quarterbacks that many believed would be taken in the first round with a chance for all four players to be franchise quarterbacks for the teams that drafted them.

Ultimately, C.J. Stroud turned out to be the best player in the draft, as he was able to become a star for the Houston Texans instantly, leading the team into the NFL playoffs, and pulling off an upset over the Cleveland Browns.

This year, quarterbacks have teams buzzing once again, with three to four players getting the bulk of attention with less than two months left until the Chicago Bears are officially on the clock at No. 1 overall.

It’s not beyond the realm of possibility that the first three picks in the upcoming draft are quarterbacks, with the Bears, Washington Commanders, and New England Patriots interested in upgrading the position.

At No. 3, the Patriots may have to take the top prospect left at the quarterback position, which could be Drake Maye out of the University of North Carolina, but Matt Miller of ESPN argues the team should pass on the Tar Heels star via The Dan Patrick Show.

“I would not take Drake Maye if I were the New England Patriots,” Miller said. “They do not have the infrastructure for a developmental quarterback.”

At this point in time, the consensus is that USC’s Caleb Williams is a can’t-miss prospect, as he’s arguably the best player in the draft and a potential franchise quarterback right out of the gate, the same way Stroud was last year.

Then it gets interesting with LSU’s Jayden Daniels and Maye being neck and neck for the second pick in the draft, as there’s been no clear choice for the Commanders.
