Former NFL GM Makes A Strong Statement About David Tepper
Carolina Panthers owner David Tepper is in hot water after he was filmed tossing a drink in the direction of a Jacksonville Jaguars fan this past week.
That action encapsulated the obvious frustrations of the team after the Panthers locked up the worst record in the NFL a year after trading up for the No. 1 overall pick.
One of the issues with Tepper as an owner, according to former NFL general manager Michael Lombardi, is that he lacks patience and doesn’t have someone on his staff to set him on the right path for NFL ownership.
“He’s looking for all this advice and at the end of the day, all he’s looking for is somebody to reaffirm what he thinks,” Lombardi said. “You gotta get somebody who’s got enough guts to stand in front of him and say, ‘Hey David, I know you made billions over here but the only way you’re going to win in this league with 31 competitive people is by having a plan, by having a system in place, by building a team that’s tutored. You can’t skip any steps here.”

Since Tepper bought the Panthers in 2018, Carolina has never finished with more than seven wins in a season.
What’s worse for the Panthers is that in trading up to select Bryce Young this past offseason, the team also gave up what will end up being the No. 1 pick in the 2024 draft.
So until Tepper learns restrain and patience in a fast-paced NFL world, the Panthers won’t have much success.
Tepper doesn’t have much of either right now – as evidenced by his most recent outburst.
