Any fan of professional basketball is also a fan of Ernie Johnson of Inside the NBA.

For years now, basketball lovers have welcomed Johnson into their homes after thousands of games.

On Tuesday night, Johnson will be given a huge honor as he will be inducted into the Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame.

TNT reminded fans of the occasion on Twitter, while also posting a video of Johnson’s friend and co-host Charles Barkley informing him of the news a few months ago.

Johnson has been a member of the TNT family for years now.

He got his start as a sportscaster in Georgia and called games for the Atlanta Braves with his father, Ernie Johnson Sr.

In 1990, Johnson became host of Inside the NBA, which was a much more subdued show at the time.

For years, Johnson was joined by various NBA stars and analysts to catch fans up on the day’s news and scores.

The show radically changed in 1998, when Kenny Smith joined as a co-host.

He would soon be joined by Barkley and then Shaquille O’Neal, who created the current crew that runs the series today.

The group of four has become beloved by NBA fans and devoted followers never miss an episode.

Johnson has also covered multiple other sporting events, including college basketball, golf, tennis, and more.

Along the way, he has won six Emmys and a National Sports Media Association National Sportscaster of the Year.

Because of his kind personality and great insight, Johnson has become a major part of the NBA so this new honor is very appropriate.
