The Philadelphia 76ers finally moved on from James Harden, and while they didn’t land an All-Star-caliber player in return, they did manage to get several valuable assets and some financial flexibility to make a move at some point down the road.

Most insiders predict that Daryl Morey has already set his sights on some potential stars that could become available, although it might take a while before any of his plans come to fruition.

With that in mind, Michael Scotto of Hoops Hype reports that the Sixers could be in the mix for Donovan Mitchell.

While he explains that they’re also targeting Bulls star Zach LaVine and Raptors forward OG Anunoby — who already played for Nick Nurse — the Sixers are also keeping tabs on Mitchell and Pistons veteran Bojan Bogdanovic (via NBACentral).

Mitchell’s future with the Cleveland Cavaliers has been a talking point for months now.

He made it clear that he wouldn’t sign a contract extension this year because it didn’t make financial sense for him, and he was non-committal when asked about whether he had plans to sign an extension at all.

The New York Knicks have been mentioned as his likeliest destination, should he decide to become a free agent or request a trade.

But the Sixers are a step ahead of the Knicks in terms of championship contention, and given their newfound assets and cap space, it would make perfect sense for them to try and pair him with another rising star like Tyrese Maxey in the backcourt.
