Skip Bayless Sends A Warning To The 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers lost their third straight game on Sunday, and some are now feeling very concerned about their prospects.

Quarterback Brock Purdy has thrown two interceptions in both of his last two games, and the Niners defense isn’t exactly as dominant as it was last year or early this season.

Skip Bayless said on FS1’s “Undisputed” that Purdy is starting to look like a mere mortal.

Purdy was the last player chosen in the 2022 NFL Draft, something which earns a player the title of “Mr. Irrelevant.”

He began last season third on the depth chart, but season-ending injuries to Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo forced him to become the starter, and he did very well in that role until the last three weeks.

Even though he had two interceptions and a fumble on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals, he did complete 22 of 31 pass attempts and throw for an impressive 365 yards while adding 57 yards on the ground.

It is too early to say that Purdy is either a mediocre QB or an elite one, but perhaps everyone will have a pretty good idea of what and who he really is by the end of this season once there is enough of a sample size to evaluate him.

San Francisco will be off this week, and after that, they will visit the Jacksonville Jaguars, who are 6-2 and currently on a five-game winning streak.

A win and a strong performance from Purdy in that contest would go a long way in silencing the doubters, at least for the moment.
