The Texas Rangers are going to play in the World Series for the first time since 2011, when they lost to the St. Louis Cardinals in heartbreaking fashion.

They have eliminated the Tampa Bay Rays, the Baltimore Orioles, and the Houston Astros to get there.

Those are perhaps the toughest squads in the American League besides the Rangers themselves, of course.

To get to where they are, they have showcased an incredibly good and deep offense.

However, they wouldn’t be here without the contributions of Nathan Eovaldi.

Because of what he has done and what he can offer the Rangers on the mound, manager Bruce Bochy announced him as the starter of Game 1 of the World Series.

“Nathan Eovaldi will start Game 1 of the World Series for the Rangers,” Rangers insider Kennedi Landry tweeted.

Eovaldi, one of the most underrated free-agent signings by the Rangers in the last couple of years, was very solid in the regular season, with a 3.63 ERA in 144 innings.

He has been even better in the playoffs, though, as he has limited the opposition with a 2.42 ERA in 26 frames.

Eovaldi was also a hero in the 2018 Boston Red Sox playoff run, and has a cool 2.87 ERA in 69 postseason innings.

Pitching in front of his fans, Eovaldi has the potential to deliver another top October start to keep cementing his playoff legacy.

He will face a tough Arizona Diamondbacks team that is filled with young, talented hitters like Corbin Carroll, Gabriel Moreno, Alek Thomas, and others, plus veterans Ketel Marte and Christian Walker.

It won’t be easy, but Eovaldi has the talent to thrive.
