We have said this many times: projection systems in MLB are extremely useful to get an idea about how strong or weak a specific team looks in comparison to its peers.
FanGraphs has long been one of the most commonly used projection systems in the industry.
They are famous for forecasting not only numbers for all players, but also for projecting how good or bad a team will be in a specific campaign, and each club’s playoffs and World Series odds.
FanGraphs is usually accurate, but their lack of faith in the Baltimore Orioles is astonishing, to say the least.

The Atlanta Braves’ odds are expected, as they were a dominating regular season team.
They finished with a 104-58 record and are ready to compete for their second World Series trophy in three years.
Can you guess the owner of the second best regular season record in MLB?
Yes, the Orioles, at 101-61.
They even beat the 100-62 Los Angeles Dodgers.
It’s understandable that these systems put the Houston Astros and the Dodgers in front of Baltimore.
After all, the Astros are the reigning World Series champions and the Dodgers have been a top contender for years.
However, there is little justification for a last place for Baltimore given the circumstances.
They will get the chance to prove them right or wrong in the next couple of weeks.
