The Denver Nuggets are coming off an NBA Finals victory, the first in franchise history.

While they were sure to celebrate this accomplishment, they are now focused on the upcoming year, which is rapidly approaching.

Their first game of the season is against the Los Angeles Lakers on October 24th.

Ahead of this matchup, several Lakers players have trash-talked the Nuggets, as this will be a rematch of last year’s Western Conference Finals.

Nuggets head coach Michael Malone was recently asked about these comments in an interview with Katy Winge.

He responded, “I don’t listen to any of that stuff, I don’t know what they’re saying.”

Malone also said, “If we’re on their minds, that’s on them.”

It appears that Malone isn’t worried about potential comments from the Lakers and that he is just focused on winning games.

The Nuggets swept the Lakers during their playoff series, a potential reason that Lakers players are upset.

This opening matchup should be emotional, as the Nuggets will raise their championship banner, and the Lakers are coming in with an agenda.

The Lakers have added several new pieces throughout the offseason to bolster their roster.

Christian Wood, Gabe Vincent, and Jaxson Hayes are three of their notable additions.

The Nuggets are primarily sticking with what helped win them a championship last season, believing they already hold the keys to success.

Will the Lakers’ latest additions be enough to take down the defending champs on opening night, backing up their talk throughout the offseason?
