Detroit Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera is officially retired.

He has been playing at the highest level since 2003, when he made his MLB debut with the Miami Marlins.

Over the years, he has been making Venezuelans proud with every achievement: two MVP awards, seven Silver Slugger awards, four batting titles, a Triple Crown, and a World Series title won when he was just 20 years old.

His fellow countrymen watched him hit over 500 home runs, 3,000 hits, 600 doubles, and finish his career with a .901 OPS.

If fans love him in his native country, you can imagine the respect and admiration he has among players who also call Venezuela home.

Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Miguel Rojas was part of the small, but heartfelt ceremony in which Cabrera received a Hollywood star in Los Angeles.

He spoke about what Cabrera represents for his countrymen, via Chris Rose Sports.

Rojas confessed he cried the day when the Dodgers honored Cabrera, and fellow Venezuelan David Peralta shed some tears, too.

“Miguel Cabrera is more than just a baseball player. He was an idol for all of us. Miggy was kind of the middle point between the old school and this new generation that is playing right now,” he said to Chris Rose.

He also stated that Cabrera opened lots of doors for people from his country.

The current generation of baseball stars from Venezuela, from Ronald Acuña Jr. to Rojas, Peralta, Pablo Lopez, Jesus Luzardo, Andres Gimenez, Anthony Santander, and many others, watched Cabrera terrorize the league for years while they were growing up.

He was a man amongst boys during his prime and his career will never be forgotten.
