Analyst Makes Harsh Statement On Bill Belichick’s Coaching Abilities
For years, NFL fans debated whether Bill Belichick was a byproduct of Tom Brady or vice versa.
And while it’s almost impossible to take anything away from either of those legends, the coach hasn’t looked as sharp as per usual since his quarterback left.
With that in mind, former NFL player Marcus Spears says it’s actually fine to admit that Belichick, as great as he is, and arguably the greatest head coach in NFL history, is no longer a good coach.
In his latest appearance on ESPN’s “Get Up,” Spears pointed out the fact that the New England Patriots are playing “old football.”
“It’s fine to say Bill Belichick had one of the greatest runs and he may be one of the greatest coaches, or is the greatest coach to ever coach in the NFL. It’s gone. He’s not anymore.”

He talked about Belichick still running the same schemes and offenses from the past, and the rest of the NFL has already moved past that.
Per Spears, the Patriots lack the personnel to play today’s game, and that’s on the coach as well.
He’s not doing Mac Jones any favors by putting him in that position, and his reluctance — or inability — to adapt to today’s game is why the Patriots have been so sluggish since Brady left.
Bill Belichick has a 26-28 record since 2020 with just one postseason appearance over that span.
The Patriots don’t look like a threat to win their division, let alone make the playoffs.
All great things come to an end, and football has come a long way.
The Patriots and Belichick are outdated, and it doesn’t seem like he’s looking forward to doing anything to change that right now.
