The Pittsburgh Steelers are a proud NFL franchise, as reflected by their six Super Bowl championships.

However, the team has fallen on hard times in recent years.

They last won a playoff game in 2016 and have made the playoffs in only three of their previous six seasons.

Their struggles on offense are a significant reason for their demise.

Last season, Pittsburgh’s offense ranked 26th in points (18.1) and 23rd in total yards per game.

The narrative hasn’t changed four games into the 2023 NFL season.

While they are at 2-2, the Steelers are 22nd in third-down efficiency, 25th in scoring and passing, 28th in red-zone efficiency, and 29th in rushing.

Their futility on that side of the ball has fans calling for offensive coordinator Matt Canada’s ouster.

If that happens, The Pat McAfee Show’s Tone Digs suggests a Steelers legend to take over.

“Big Ben needs to come back and be offensive coordinator for the Pittsburgh Steelers,” Digz said via McAfee’s Twitter account.

Digs added, “He knows the plays. He knows the players. I mean, if he doesn’t come back and save the city at this point, he’s kinda being selfish.”

Roethlisberger guided the Steelers to victory in Super Bowls XL and XLIII.

His throw to Santonio Holmes at the back of the end zone and through two Arizona Cardinals defenders is regarded as one of the best Super Bowl plays ever.

Having Roethlisberger on the sidelines could be beneficial for Kenny Pickett.

But with Mike Tomlin adamant about keeping Canada on the Steelers’ staff, will Roethlisberger as OC even happen?
