Winning the NBA title definitely puts a target on the back of any NBA team.

Considering the Denver Nuggets won the 2023 NBA crown, every team in the league will bring its A-game to the table against them, especially the Los Angeles Lakers.

The two sides locked horns in the 2023 Western Conference Finals, but it was a one-sided win for the Nuggets.

After sweeping the Lakers, the media created the narrative of them owning the 17-time NBA champions, and a few insulting nicknames were given to them.

Heading into the 2023-24 season, Anthony Davis addressed those comments, and Richard Jefferson shared his reaction to those remarks via his official Twitter handle.

“Either way they are the Champs and the league is coming for them. Nuggets are ready,” Jefferson tweeted.

Michael Malone, the head coach of the Nuggets, was particularly calling out the Lakers left and right.

Jefferson believes that even though Malone technically doesn’t play for the Nuggets, he’s still the face of the franchise as the head coach of the team.

However, Jefferson also pointed out the fact that the Nuggets are still the champions of the league, and it’s their title to lose.

Until the a champion of the NBA is crowned, the Nuggets will be regarded as the best team in the league.

But to keep that title, the Nuggets will need to play their best brand of basketball.

Can the Nuggets win back-to-back NBA championships?

Perhaps an even more interesting storyline will be if the Nuggets end up facing the Lakers once again in the postseason.

The potential rematch between the two sides will have the potential to be the best series of the 2024 playoffs.
