C.J. Stroud Details Texans’ Mentality During Big Win Against Steelers
Rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud has been a breath of fresh air for the Houston Texans so far this season, and this continued to be the case during the team’s surprising win over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday.
Stroud threw for 306 yards and two touchdowns to help the Texans pull off an easy 30-6 win in their Week 4 matchup with the Steelers.
After the victory, the rookie quarterback talked about the mentality that first-year Houston head coach DeMeco Ryans has instilled in the team’s locker room this year.
“We fight our tail off man. DeMeco [Ryans] always preaches that mentality. We brought that mentality today.” Stroud said.

Of all the rookie quarterbacks who were selected in the 2023 NFL Draft earlier this year, Stroud has certainly looked like the best of the bunch so far.
He struggled a bit in the Texans’ regular-season opener against the Baltimore Ravens, but since then, he’s been performing very well.
In his four games this year, Stroud has thrown for 1,212 yards, six touchdowns, and no interceptions.
Expectations weren’t very high for Houston heading into the 2023 campaign, but they’ve already proven plenty of people wrong by getting two wins in their first four games.
Ryans has the Texans playing at a level that the fan base hasn’t seen from their favorite team during the last few seasons.
Is the rest of the 2023 campaign going to be full of success for Stroud and Houston?
Probably not, but at this point, there’s no reason to believe that the Texans can’t at least finish with eight or nine wins this season.
Regardless of how they finish this year, Houston and their fans should feel excited about their future with Stroud leading the way.
