Analyst Claims Daniel Jones Did 1 Giants Player Wrong

The New York Giants and Daniel Jones agreed to restructure his contract, freeing up almost $7 million in cap space.

That’s obviously a good thing for the G-Men, as they’ll now have some flexibility to operate throughout the course of the season, and that available cap space could even carry into next offseason if they don’t use it right now.

However, as much as one could praise Jones for making this concession, Saquon Barkley might not exactly be thrilled with that.

At least, that’s what sports analyst Craig Carton seems to believe, as he recently said on his show that Jones didn’t do Barkley any favors.

Carton wondered where was this willingness to help when Barkley was desperately trying to get paid, and he might have a point.

Barkley is by far the best offensive player on the Giants’ roster, and Jones would’ve never gotten that contract if it wasn’t for him.

The Giants hadn’t even picked up Jones’ fifth-year option, and prior to last year, there weren’t that many reasons to think that he was a starting-caliber player.

Barkley threatened to hold out if the Giants didn’t pay him what he had rightfully earned, and the Giants were short in available money because of that big deal they gave Jones.

Carton believes that was bad leadership from Jones, as he could’ve and should’ve stepped up earlier in the offseason to try and come up with a solution to Barkley’s situation.

Barkley wound up settling for a one-year deal worth less than he was looking for, so Jones might want to buy him dinner or something now.
