The Philadelphia Phillies have one of the best lineups in baseball.

They have talented hitters 1-9 in their lineup and have invested heavily in most of those players.

One player that is one of MLB’s most unique hitters is Kyle Schwarber.

When it comes to hitting for average, he is one of the worst in baseball.

But he is an elite power hitter and gets on base at a high rate.

Schwarber is batting .190 on the season but has hit 39 home runs.

Also, his on-base percentage is .337.

Schwarber also has 175 strikeouts this year, which leads the National League.

According to Codify, Schwarber has the lowest batting average in a season with more than 30 home runs.

Despite having a low average, the Phillies still bat Schwarber leadoff.

His on-base percentage and home runs outweigh his terrible average.

Also, Schwarber is best being used as a designated hitter.

He is not a strong defensive player and the Phillies benefit more from having someone else in left field.

Despite the negatives that come along with Schwarber, he is a leader in the Phillies clubhouse.

This team plays much better when Schwarber is in the lineup.

The Phillies are currently in the first Wild Card spot.

It is looking more and more likely that they will be in that spot come playoff time.

Last year the Phillies went from the Wild Card to the World Series.

They are hoping to accomplish that feat for the second straight year.
