Garrett Wilson Gets Honest On His Expectations This Season
The New York Jets enter the season in a somewhat unusual position for the franchise.
They’re expected to be a Super Bowl contender, and while most of that has to do with Aaron Rodgers’ arrival, he’ll have plenty of weapons to throw the football to.
That includes reigning NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Garrett Wilson, who figures to be Rodgers’ primary target throughout the course of the season.
The hype is at an all-time high as he enters his second season, as even Rodgers didn’t hesitate to compare him to star WR Davante Adams.
However, the Ohio State product wants to pump the brakes on all the talk, as he knows he has to prove himself in this league; otherwise, that strong first campaign would be meaningless:
“That’s awesome, man, that’s awesome,” Wilson told the New York Post, via ProFootballTalk. “But I gotta go out and prove it every day, every time I take the field that I’m even worthy of being in the same sentence as a player like that, and that’s what I plan to do.”

Wilson ran away with the award despite the Jets’ subpar quarterback situation.
Catching passes from the likes of Mike White, Joe Flacco, Zach Wilson, and Chris Streveler, Wilson still managed to impress with 83 receptions for 1,103 yards and four touchdowns, averaging 13.3 yards per reception.
Those numbers figure to go way up in 2023, now that he’s going to share the field with one of the greatest and most accurate passers this game has ever seen, so he’ll have plenty of opportunities to prove that last season’s success wasn’t a fluke.
The Jets have plenty of talent on both sides of the field and should be one of the clear-cut favorites to come out of the AFC this season, but they still need to prove themselves.
