Analyst Discusses Future Of Yankees GM Position
It’s safe to say that the 2023 season has not gone according to plan for the New York Yankees.
This is a team that was expected to be a clear postseason contender.
However, even with a slightly better record over their last 10 games, New York is still well out of postseason contention and on track to fall short of October for the first time since 2016.
This has led some to speculate that changes could be coming in the front office.
However, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic pumped the brakes on any rumors that General Manager Brian Cashman would be fired, stating that he believes no major changes will occur.

Rosenthal believes that the only way changes occur is if Owner Hal Steinbrenner orders a change, whether that is with Cashman or manager Aaron Boone.
The esteemed baseball writer notes that Steinbrenner has been very loyal to both Boone and Cashman.
An important thing to note is that Cashman has had 25 consecutive winning seasons as General Manager of the Yankees.
The team has also won four World Series titles under his watchful eye.
They are at risk of having their first losing season since 1992, however.
Still, Rosenthal acknowledged that fans are upset with Cashman, but that he’ll more than likely receive “a mulligan.”
If the Yankees do finish under .500, it may add a little extra urgency to the offseason.
Rosenthal notes that fans are definitely frustrated and that it remains to be seen how Steinbrenner will react to that.
We’ll see how the rest of the season plays out for the Yankees.
