This year’s edition of the HBO series “Hard Knocks” has been focused on the New York Jets, and for good reason, since future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers is the man under center for them.

But New York Giants linebacker Jihad Ward has a problem with the show’s coverage of Rodgers and the Jets.

He said its coverage of Rodgers has been biased toward the quarterback, and he pointed to a recent incident when wide receiver Randall Cobb delivered a heavy hit, which left both Rodgers and Cobb laughing about it.

Rodgers fired back and claimed Ward had fabricated his account of what happened.

“He thought we were laughing at his teammate?” Rodgers asked. “That never happened and I think he’s making (stuff) up. I don’t care.”

While Rodgers has been one of the game’s greatest players over the last 15 years, some now regard him as a diva, especially after the way his time with the Green Bay Packers ended.

He was engaged in a contract dispute with the team during his final months there, but he seems revitalized and has mostly been on his best behavior since arriving in the Tri-state area.

There, he is surrounded by the type of talent on both sides of the ball he hasn’t enjoyed in a long time.

Wide receiver Garrett Wilson is the reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year, while running back Dalvin Cook, who has made the Pro Bowl in each of the last four seasons, recently joined the team.

On defense, New York is returning the core of a unit that was fourth in points and total yards allowed last season.

In the end, it will be up to Rodgers to deliver the team its first Super Bowl championship since the 1968 season and end decades of ineptitude since that triumph.
