The Los Angeles Lakers have had a solid offseason thus far.

GM Rob Pelinka made it a priority to keep most of their core together, and they also brought in some promising role players to give them some depth.

Nonetheless, as satisfied as they might be with their current team, they’re also looking for ways to get even better.

With that in mind, Jovan Buha of The Athletic reported that they’re currently keeping tabs on Trae Young’s situation (via NBACentral).

Per the report, the Lakers have already pursued the likes of Damian Lillard, Kyle Lowry, and Kyrie Irving.

LeBron James even reportedly urged the team to try and make a run at Irving again in the offseason, but his attempts were unsuccessful.

Young has reportedly been on their radar for quite a while, and he was tangled up in some trade rumors last season.

Also, we cannot ignore the fact that Young is also represented by Rich Paul and Klutch Sports, just like LeBron, Anthony Davis, Jarred Vanderbilt, and Cam Reddish.

Young has often talked about his desire to compete with the Atlanta Hawks, and he’s had nothing but praise for new coach Quin Snyder.

But big-market teams often get whatever they want, and the same goes for James and all players represented by Rich Paul.

It might not happen soon or even next season at all, but you can never rule the Lakers out of the race for any big-name player that becomes available.
