Matt Carpenter Received A Hilarious Gift From Former Teammate
The San Diego Padres recently wrapped up a three-game series at Busch Stadium, dropping two out of three to the St. Louis Cardinals.
Matt Carpenter, a former member of the Cardinals, got a chance to face off against Adam Wainwright on Monday night in the series opener and picked up two hits against the veteran right-hander, one of which handed Wainwright the loss.
On Wednesday, before the series finale, Wainwright signed a baseball for Carpenter and left a message on it, congratulating him on what he called “the luckiest two-hit game of his career.”
Carpenter discussed this hilarious gift with Jim Hayes of Bally Sports Midwest.
Adam Wainwright called his battle with Matt Carpenter “the luckiest two-hit game of his career.”

Carpenter kept the ball that he hit off of Wainwright and asked the veteran right-hander to sign it.
The Padres slugger says that the 42-year-old right-hander can call it whatever he wants.
Carpenter also joked that it was the single most important two-hit game of his career, stating that he’ll put it in a very special place in his house, which he referred to as “the Carpenter residence.”
The veteran slugger was asked by Hayes where exactly it would go, to which he replied it would likely go in his master bedroom right above the bed, so long as he gets the green light from his wife McKenzie to store it there.
This is a hilarious gift Carpenter received from his old Cardinals teammate, but it’s also something he’ll remember forever and something he’ll have on Wainwright for the rest of his MLB career.
