Ravens Release 2-Time Pro-Bowl Running Back
The Baltimore Ravens will head into the 2023 NFL season with arguably one of the best offenses in the league, as Lamar Jackson and company could be well on their way to putting up some historic numbers on that side of the football.
Along with getting Jackson to sign a new lucrative long-term contract, the Ravens brought in superstar wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. and drafted Zay Flowers out of Boston College to join arguably one of the best tight ends in the league in Mark Andrews in the passing game.
Another critical piece to the offensive puzzle for the Ravens was the return of J.K. Dobbins, who has struggled with injuries, but to address those concerns, the team signed veteran running back Melvin Gordon.
Unfortunately, it appears that Gordon wasn’t the right fit for Baltimore, as the team parted ways with the journeyman on Tuesday, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Outside of his rookie season with the then-San Diego Chargers, Gordon was one of the most consistent running backs in the league, with eight or more rushing touchdowns every season until his last year with the Denver Broncos.
Unfortunately, when running backs start to fall off in this league, it is extremely hard for them to bounce back and convince teams they can be counted on throughout a 17-game season.
With Gordon getting released, along with many other veteran running backs on Tuesday, there’s no telling where he might land in the NFL and whether he’ll have a team before the start of the season next month.
