Things haven’t worked out the way the Los Angeles Clippers envisioned when they decided to swing a blockbuster trade for Paul George and sign Kawhi Leonard.

George and Leonard make for one of the NBA’s best tandems, though the two have only been able to make one Western Conference Finals appearance since teaming up.

Injuries are largely to blame as both stars have struggled to stay healthy, though Leonard’s history is particularly concerning.

Multiple knee injuries have robbed Leonard of truly leading the Clippers to a title, but fans have a hard time quitting on him because of what he can do when healthy.

Defensively, Leonard’s a menace who can stop just about anybody but what makes him even more special is his offensive game.

Leonard’s one of the best one-on-one scorers in the league which lead some analysts like Jason Timpf of The Volume to compare him to Michael Jordan.

“He’s a bigger, stronger, but more ground-bound version of Michael Jordan,” Timpf said.

Comparing anyone to Jordan is generally considered sacrilegious in basketball circles, but when zooming in on Leonard’s game it’s easy to see the Chicago Bulls legend.

Like Jordan, Leonard’s got an impeccable mid-range game that he sets up using his size and physicality on the floor.

While Jordan’s got the edge athletically, Leonard makes up for it with his strength and touch with the basketball.

Unlike the Bulls icon, though, Leonard’s been unable to stay on the floor and his health remains the biggest deterrent to Los Angeles’ title aspirations.
