Richard Sherman Has An Issue With Justin Jefferson’s Top-100 Ranking

Recently, the NFL’s annual Top 100 list came out, and as usual, there was some haggling about where some players came in on that list.

Justin Jefferson, the magnificent wide receiver for the Minnesota Vikings, came in at No. 2 behind only Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs.

Although many feel Jefferson is the best wideout in the game and that he deserves the No. 2 spot, former star cornerback Richard Sherman disagrees.

Sherman, who was known for talking trash during his playing career, said during a recent episode of “Undisputed” that wide receivers are too dependent on their teammates to be in the top 10 and that they “don’t play enough plays to be that valuable.”

Michael Irvin, a Hall of Fame wide receiver for the Dallas Cowboys in the 1990s, fired back and mentioned all the things players at that position have to do to help their teams regardless of who is under center or on the offensive line.

The fact that Jefferson led the NFL in receiving yards in 2022 despite not playing with an elite quarterback pushes back on Sherman’s claim.

He put up 1,809 receiving yards and eight receiving touchdowns, and some people feel he is inevitably going to become the first player to surpass the 2,000-receiving-yard mark.

He may have to do so to get Minnesota to the playoffs again, as fellow wideout Adam Thielen and star running back Dalvin Cook left this offseason.

Luckily, the rest of the NFC lacks depth, and that alone could help ensure a postseason berth for the Vikings this winter.
