Before he eventually signed with the New York Jets recently, veteran running back Dalvin Cook was doing his due diligence on the open market to see what his value was and where the best fit was for him after being named to four straight Pro Bowls while with the Minnesota Vikings.

After the Vikings released Cook, seemingly because they were unwilling to sign him to a lucrative long-term deal, the consensus around the NFL was that he wouldn’t last long as a free agent, with the Miami Dolphins being the team that would most likely sign him.

Ultimately, that didn’t turn out to be the case, as Cook was a free agent for quite some time before signing with the Jets to join Aaron Rodgers and company in the Big Apple.

During an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show,” Cook was asked what was the driving motivator for signing with the Jets and whether he valued money over potentially winning a ring.

Apparently, Cook was confident in what he believed he was worth on the open market because he knew his talent would speak for itself and get him paid.

Cook also said that he wanted to go to a team that was ready to win right away, and that’s precisely what he got with the Jets making the necessary change at quarterback to upgrade from Zach Wilson to Rodgers.

The real question now is whether Cook and company can win a ring in New York, as the pressure will be on come Week 1 with a lot of hype and expectations for this new-look Jets squad.
