Adam Wainwright Makes Hilarious Promise To A Former Teammate
On Monday, Adam Wainwright made yet another attempt to win his 199th career game and move to within one win of the 200-win plateau.
Unfortunately, the St. Louis Cardinals right-hander fell short of that goal, but he still pitched a gem against the San Diego Padres, giving up just one run over six innings.
With the Padres in town, several of Wainwright’s old friends were present, including former teammates Matt Carpenter and Michael Wacha, and former manager Mike Shildt.
It was Carpenter who drove in the lone run against the 41-year-old as the Padres pulled off a 4-1 victory at Busch Stadium.
After the game, Wainwright made a hilarious promise when discussing his former teammate’s hit, saying that he would send him some 4 a.m. room service as revenge, via Bally Sports Midwest.

Of course, we don’t know if Wainwright actually sent Carpenter 4 a.m. room service, but if he did, it’s quite a hilarious prank on his old teammate.
Carpenter came up to the Major Leagues with the Cardinals in 2011 and was with the team until 2021.
Wainwright was present for all of those years and the two were teammates with Wacha when the team won the 2013 National League pennant.
The veteran right-hander also joked that he didn’t want to give up a home run to Carpenter, knowing that the latter would have that to brag about to his old teammate for the rest of their lives.
That ultimately didn’t take place, but it was Carpenter who prevented Wainwright from getting closer to 200 wins with his base-hit.
