The FIBA World Cup is well underway, with some of the best of the best in the basketball world going head-to-head in this tournament in the Philippines, with quite a bit of competition this time around, with few superstars participating.

One team that was expected to make some noise during this tournament is Australia, which always seems to have a talented roster with some notable NBA players on it.

This summer, one of those notable names on the Australian squad is veteran point guard Patty Mills of the Atlanta Hawks, who earned some high praise from his NBA teammate and superstar Trae Young on Sunday.

Although Australia came up short to Germany, losing to Dennis Schroder’s squad by three, Young took to Twitter to show some love to his Hawks teammate for a highlight that made the NBA’s Twitter account while he filled up the stat sheet for his country.

Unfortunately for Australia, the loss to Germany is a significant loss, as it hurts their chances of advancing to the next round, with Japan currently having the same record in group play at 1-1.

Australia came into the FIBA World Cup as arguably one of the best teams, with the consensus being that they could be one of the more significant threats to Team USA or Canada winning it all.

Japan and Australia will go head-to-head on Tuesday in a game that Mills and company have to win in order to stay alive, meaning it’s basically a win-or-go-home situation with everything on the line for both squads.
