After playing in his 20th NBA season, Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James flirted with the notion of retiring following getting swept by the eventual NBA champion Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference Finals.

James went through another roller-coaster season with the Lakers that went from disaster to breaking Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s NBA scoring record to reaching the Western Conference Finals from the Play-In Tournament.

On top of all of that, James was dealing with a lingering foot injury that had to be tended to during the regular season in order for him to be ready for the NBA playoffs.

With James reaching a few more milestones during the 2023-24 NBA season, the GOAT debate started to heat up again, with some beginning to side more with James over Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan.

One pundit who seems to have already punched his ballot in the GOAT debate for James is Mike Greenberg of ESPN, who believes the future Hall of Famer has exceeded expectations both on and off the court like no one has ever done before via Legion Hoops.

Greenberg isn’t wrong in his assessment of James as he’s done some incredible things both on and off the floor, which needs to be appreciated, and for the most part, it seems to be acknowledged by the majority of basketball fans and the media.

However, like any good sports debate, the topic will continue to be discussed for years and years, especially with James seemingly ready to lace them up for a few more seasons in the NBA.
