Fans React To Today’s Trey Lance Trade
Ever since Brock Purdy took over as the starting quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers and became a bona fide star in the Bay Area, Trey Lance’s future with the franchise seemed to be over as the team found their new franchise quarterback.
There had been a lot of speculation that the 49ers were trying to trade Lance for quite some time but haven’t had any luck with no deal coming to fruition.
That all changed on Friday with the 49ers making a deal with the Dallas Cowboys right before their preseason finale against the Los Angeles Chargers, which sent Lance to Dallas to be Dak Prescott’s backup, at least for the time being, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

With Prescott being the undisputed leader for the Cowboys over the last few years, there’s been no talk of a change at the position nor any indication that the team would move off him anytime soon.
In fact, a report surfaced recently about the Cowboys talking to the veteran quarterback about a lucrative contract extension, but then things started to come out of training camp that didn’t paint Prescott in a good light, as it appeared his teammates had begun to lose respect for him.
Now that Lance will be in Dallas, it makes for an interesting dynamic moving forward because it is unclear why the Cowboys made this move if they’re genuinely content with Prescott moving forward.
It’ll be interesting to see how things pan out in Dallas and whether the acquisition of Lance causes a bit of a stir within the team ahead of Week 1.
