Throughout his basketball career, one-time NBA MVP Russell Westbrook has gotten a lot of support from his peers and teammates, but one of his biggest supporters is no longer with us.

Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant was a fan of Westbrook’s, as he respected the way the veteran guard attacked every game with the same intensity and was never willing to give up no matter what the situation was on the basketball floor.

On more than one occasion, Bryant publicly praised Westbrook for always going all out and actually compared him to himself in terms of their intensity when fully engaged on the basketball floor.

On August 24, which is known as Mamba Day in the city of Los Angeles, which is Westbrook’s hometown, the current Los Angeles Clippers guard paid respect to his old friend and former Team USA teammate by taking to Instagram with a picture of them holding up their gold medals from 2012, via ClutchPoints.

Although Westbrook has received a lot of criticism over the last few years for his play on the basketball floor, Bryant’s praise will likely be something that he never forgets and probably continues to inspire him to this day as he deals with playing in the twilight of his career.

Even though his time with the Lakers was forgettable, Westbrook has been given a shot at a fresh start with the Clippers, which has paid off thus far after recently re-signing with the team to continue playing alongside fellow stars Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, who also had special relationships with Bryant.
