Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics are about three months removed from an embarrassing loss in the playoffs after nearly making history.

They had fallen behind 3-0 in the Eastern Conference Finals to the Miami Heat, only to win the next three games and force a Game 7.

Everything was set up for Boston to become the first NBA team to overcome a 3-0 series deficit — they had the momentum and emotion on their side, not to mention home-court advantage for that contest — but they fell in blowout fashion.

Interestingly enough, Tatum has been spotted in the gym working out with Heat guard Tyler Herro, via NBACentral.

Herro did miss the entire series with a hand injury, but the two have battled before in recent years during the postseason.

The Celtics and Heat have met in the Eastern Conference Finals three times in the last four seasons, with the Heat winning two of those matchups.

Herro is a rising star in the NBA who won the Sixth Man of the Year award in 2022, but he could be on his way out if the Heat succeed in trading for Damian Lillard.

The Portland Trail Blazers, Lillard’s current team, reportedly haven’t liked any of the packages Miami has been willing to send them, and the situation is likely to drag out for the rest of the summer and possibly into the fall.

If Lillard is to eventually become a member of the Heat, it would radically alter the balance of power in the Eastern Conference and likely the rest of the league, and that would be bad news for a new-look Celtics team.
