Roger Clemens Shares Heartwarming Story About Son’s MLB Journey

Roger Clemens was known as one of the fiercest competitors the game of baseball had ever seen.

Clemens won seven Cy Youngs, an MVP, two pitching triple crowns, two World Series rings, and earned 11 All-Star nods.

Baseball runs in the MLB legend’s family, as his son Kody is now playing professionally.

Kody is now a member of the Philadelphia Phillies, but during his time with the Detroit Tigers, he was tapped to pitch in a blowout game and managed to strike out Shohei Ohtani.

On the MLB podcast “Foul Territory,” Clemens shared this heartwarming story about his son striking out the two-way star.

Clemens revealed that his son had occasionally been tapped to pitch in blowout games to save the bullpen at the minor league level.

He mentioned that it was clear something was wrong with the Tigers when the highlight of one of their games was an outfielder striking out Ohtani.

However, Kody dropped a 60-mph pitch at the top of the strike zone and managed to fan the two-way star.

Clemens talked about how after Kody managed to fan Ohtani, his son called him and told him about his reaction to the strikeout, which was Clemens’ signature fist pump.

The legendary hurler was proud of his son, but was also asked if Ohtani would sign the baseball Kody used to strike him out.

Clemens told his son to go get the autograph, and Kody ultimately walked away with a souvenir from one of the game’s best and most talented players.
