Last season, the Seattle Seahawks appeared to be heading into a rebuilding phase, with the team trading superstar quarterback Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos before the 2022 campaign got underway.

Usually, when a team makes a move like that, it indicates the start of a rebuild and potential overhaul of the coaching staff as well as the roster.

That didn’t turn out to be the case for the Seahawks as the team actually seemed to improve with Geno Smith taking over for Wilson and earning the first Pro Bowl selection of his NFL career.

The success of last season has reinvigorated longtime head coach Pete Carroll, who, believe it or not, is the oldest head coach in the league at 71.

Carroll was recently asked by former player Richard Sherman about his coaching future and whether he’s thinking about retirement on The Volume Sports, via NFL on ClutchPoints.

Despite being the oldest head coach in the league ahead of Bill Belichick (70) and Andy Reid (64), Carroll doesn’t know when he’ll walk away from the game because he’s having so much fun.

Carroll went on to say that the current squad they’re building in Seattle is “as fun as any team” he’s had with the Seahawks, which is a bold statement considering how much success and fun it looked like he had over the past decade or so.

Clearly, retirement is not on his mind, and if he is still having fun doing what he’s doing at 71, then there’s no reason to stop.

As for the upcoming 2023 campaign, it remains to be seen how good the Seahawks can be, but they are talented and could surprise some people again.
