Lonzo Ball has been one of the most hyped players to enter the NBA in recent years.

When he was the No. 2 pick in the 2017 draft, a number of people expected him to become a superstar and even a Hall of Famer.

The Chicago Bulls guard hasn’t even come close to meeting those expectations, and one reason why is that they were simply outsized to begin with.

But the biggest reason Ball hasn’t lived up to the hype is his many injuries, and his latest injury has put his career in jeopardy.

He recently appeared on Trae Young’s podcast and said that he’s been able to stay positive through all his health problems by keeping the game of basketball in perspective.

In six pro seasons, Ball has appeared in just 252 games, and he has averaged 11.9 points and 6.2 assists while shooting just 40.0 percent from the field, which are numbers that aren’t exactly All-Star caliber.

While he has greatly improved his outside shooting, he hasn’t gotten better at any other facet of his game, and he can still be something of an offensive liability when the game slows down.

Midway through the 2021-22 season, the Chino Hills native tore the meniscus in his left knee, an injury that should take, at most, a few months to recover from.

But he missed the rest of the season, and he sat out all of this season after multiple procedures on his injured knee and an inability to respond positively to rehab.

Fortunately, if Ball’s NBA career is truly over, he has his budding rap career to fall back on.
