The Philadelphia Eagles and Indianapolis Colts couldn’t finish their scheduled joint practice.

Both teams were tangled up in not one but two brawls in the morning, one involving veteran center Jason Kelce.

The future Hall of Famer took the blame for his involvement in the scuffle and admitted he should’ve handled things differently (via ProFootballTalk):

“I think tensions just got the better of me,” Kelce said, via the Delaware County Journal. “That certainly doesn’t belong out there on the field. And just, a little bit of shame that it got to that level, that I did what I did.”

The brawl reportedly began with Kelce taking a cheap shot at Colts LB Zaire Franklin.

Franklin had previously hit Eagles RB Kenneth Gainwell, and things got out of control afterward.

Kelce also admitted that head coach Nick Sirianni called his players out and urged them not to lose control like that.

Fortunately for everybody involved, the teams won’t practice tomorrow, but they do have to see each other gain on Thursday in their preseason finale.

Joint practices have been a subject of discussion for years now.

They’ve often led to these kinds of altercations, and it feels like it’s just a matter of time before things get out of hand.

Kelce has a solid reputation around the league and rival players have nothing but the utmost respect for him, so this might as well be just an isolated incident.

But having two teams full of competitors going at each other for days could lead to these kinds of things, so let’s just hope all teams can get through the finish line and start the upcoming season with no more incidents.
